Diane Lines - Too Close For Comfort

Diane Lines received her musical education at the Banff School of Fine Arts, the Humber School of Creative and Performing Arts in Toronto, and at Cleo Laine and John Dankworth's Wavendon Music Program in England. She has performed on six continents and has appeared with a variety of entertainers including; Jim Byrnes, Les Brown, David Foster, Michael Kaeshammer, Amanda Wood, Bria Skonberg, Marian McPartland, Alfie Zappacosta, Gospel great John Boutte, Rolf Harris and Juno Award winners Gabriel Mark Hasselbach, Shari Ulrich and Kenny Wayne.

Diane was the pianist for Grammy nominated Michael Bublé for two years.  She has also recorded and toured with Juno Award winning singer/songwriter Gary Fjellgaard and appears on Gary's CDs Under Western Skies and The Best of Gary Fjellgaard.  Diane's work with Fjellgaard earned her consecutive nominations for BCCMA's Keyboardist of the Year.  

Diane has toured extensively in the United States as keyboardist and vocalist for piano virtuoso Mac Frampton and his Hollywood Hills Orchestra.

Now based in Vancouver, Diane is a member of the popular Acoustic Groove Trio with percussionist Tony Chamberlist and guitarist/vocalist Michael Taylor, and has been the keyboardist and vocalist for Canada's "King of Swing" Dal Richards and his Orchestra for the last 9 years.  She is featured on four of Richards' albums: The Swinging Years; Dal Richards and Friends, Dal Richards: One More Time, and the recently released Musically Yours.

Theatre credits include the Arts Club Theatre's acclaimed production of Tapestry: A Tribute to Carole King also starring Denzal Sinclaire and Shari Ulrich, and the Firehall Theatre's production of Stoned Soul Picnic: The Music of Laura Nyro.

Recently, Diane (with co-creators Tony Chamberlist and Voni Grindler) premiered her new show, "Jump!", a celebration of 40's and 50's era swing, boogie-woogie, and jump blues music.  Diane will be performing with the cast of JUMP! in various venues in 2012.

Diane has also released two albums of her own. Trying to Keep Her 88s Straight, a collection of jazz and blues standards (and not so standards!!) and Diane Lines JUMP!, the companion CD to her new show.

Diane is the resident accompanist/arranger for the high-spirited Universal Gospel Choir.  The UGC performs spiritually uplifting music from all faith traditions and is committed to using music to benefit various charitable and community organizations in Greater Vancouver.  

On a non-musical note, Diane is a believer in life long learning, and in 2007 graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Masters Degree in Social Psychology.
